6 Gentle Reminders This Holiday Week

The holidays can be hard - Here are 6 reminders to help you thrive, not just survive, this holiday week:

1️⃣ Your body deserves rest as much as nourishment. - Regardless if you are currently building a human, healing from childbirth, or chasing a toddler around, rest is SO important, especially during the holiday season.

2️⃣ Food doesn’t have morality—there are no “good” or “bad” foods. - Leave those food judgments behind this week. When you notice you are having them, try shifting your focus to what you enjoy about the food or what the food does for your body.

3️⃣ It’s okay to say “no” to diet or body talk. - Especially if it is regarding your pregnant or postpartum body, tips on how to lose the “baby weight”, and in front of your kids.

4️⃣ Taking care of yourself is taking care of your family. - Read that again. The better you care for yourself, the better you can care for your baby.

5️⃣ Postpartum bodies are also worthy of love and gratitude. - With people who fawned over your pregnant body, you may now be hearing crickets in postpartum. While you may prefer not having comments made about your body, it can be hard to not internalize the lack of praise and recognition in postpartum as that your body does not look “good”. Please remember that in postpartum (and all the time, really), your body is worthy of love and gratitude.

6️⃣ Eating enough is an act of self-care. - You deserve to nourish your body. Your body deserves to be nourished. Your child deserves a nourished parent (read that one again). And you/your body need even more nourishment in pregnancy and postpartum.
